New Canaan faced Darien in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rams breezed past the Blue Wave to the tune of 39-7. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Blue Wave: they've now won six in a row.

Maddox Hoffman went supernova, throwing for 288 yards and three TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also picking up 35 receiving yards and one score. Those 288 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Bennett Heagle was another key player, picking up 66 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

New Canaan didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Darien to a completion percentage of just 22.2%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from six players: Andrew Esposito, Mikey Hiraman, Ryan Brooks, Bo Seelert, Jack Crowell, and Dante Marsili, who each logged one passes deflected. New Canaan wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 80%.

New Canaan's defense didn't let Player #7, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

New Canaan's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Darien, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

New Canaan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Wave: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
