Havana extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 11-16 in the process. Everything went their way against the Canton Little Giants as they made off with a 17-11 win. That's two games straight that the Ducks have won by exactly six runs.
Kaden Olson was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Miller, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Havana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
As for Canton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-18. Even if they couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
On Canton's side, Miles Hoops led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Hoops is becoming a predictor of the Little Giants' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-17 when he doesn't). Kash Van Houten also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Looking ahead, Havana will head out on the road to take on PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Canton, they will welcome Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
