Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andrew Jackson Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rileigh Barnes, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was McKinnley Beard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Andrew Jackson Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Cross was fully in charge last Friday, breezing past Thomas Heyward Academy 67-15. The Stingrays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.
Andrew Jackson Academy better keep an eye on Ryan Mayers. She was instrumental in Cross' win, almost dropping a triple-double on 28 points, nine boards, and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mayers has scored at least a third of Cross' points. Reyannah Maldonado was another key player, putting up 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Cross is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Andrew Jackson Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
