Softball Recap: Glacier Peak's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Glacier Peak dropped their record down to 11-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Kamiak Knights by a score of 2-1. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 11-8.

Emma Hirshorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sammie Christensen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

As for Kamiak, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Kamiak's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Synclair Mawudeku gave up only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Stansfield, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Glacier Peak will challenge Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kamiak, they will welcome Edmonds-Woodway at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
