Football Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Greater Atlanta Christian can now relate to. They came up short against the Hebron Christian Lions on Friday, falling 50-24. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Lions are ranked 18th).

Despite the loss, Greater Atlanta Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Pierce Wilson rushed for 53 yards and one score, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD.

Devon Caldwell produced another solid effort rushing for 265 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries for Hebron Christian. Caldwell's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 110 rushing yards. Jarvis Mathurin was another key player, picking up 110 receiving yards and one TD.

Greater Atlanta Christian moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Hebron Christian, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

Greater Atlanta Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hebron Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Calvary Day at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th. The Cavaliers' defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
