Recap: Canadian Cougars vs. Wetumka Chieftains

The Canadian Cougars lost against the Wetumka Chieftains back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Canadian fell 61-49 to Wetumka. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canadian in their matchups with Wetumka: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Canadian saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Rogers scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Rogers scored a full 32.7% of Canadian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tj Cook was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Canadian now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Wetumka, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canadian will take on Haworth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Haworth presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Canadian in Oklahoma (Haworth is ranked 96th, while Canadian is ranked 210th). As for Wetumka, they will be playing at home against Butner at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
