After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ironton, South Point was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Gallia Academy Blue Devils with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Pointers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Kota Copley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Copley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Adyson Copley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Kaylee Stidham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

South Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gallia Academy only posted an OBP of .261.

South Point is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gallia Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Point will venture away from home to take on Dawson-Bryant at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Pointers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gallia Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Rock Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
