Baseball Game Preview: Mount Tabor Spartans vs. East Surry Cardinals

The Mount Tabor Spartans will head out to challenge the East Surry Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mount Tabor is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Mount Tabor came up short against East Forsyth on Friday, falling 15-5.

David Thiel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Koonin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, East Surry made sure to put some runs up on the board against North Wilkes on Friday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-2 victory.

East Surry is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Tabor, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Mount Tabor might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from East Surry in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
