George County has gone 6-1 against Pascagoula recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. George County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
George County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Picayune. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Maroon Tide recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Peyton Collins's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Blakey Slay was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Pascagoula made sure to put some runs up on the board against Moss Point on Monday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-0 victory.
Massyah Thomas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thomas was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Ty'Mia Bell and Asante Dawson did most of the damage at the plate: Bell scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Dawson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits Dawson has posted since back in March. Akireana Lee also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pascagoula hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
George County pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Pascagoula, their record is now 6-13.
Pascagoula's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. George County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pascagoula, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will George County keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Everything went George County's way against Pascagoula in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as George County made off with a 13-0 win. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
