Softball Recap: L'anse Creuse Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

L'Anse Creuse had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They skirted past the Rochester Falcons 11-9. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly two runs.

Anne Matheson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Emma Liske was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Matheson wasn't the only one making solid contact: L'Anse Creuse kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The Lancers are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

L'Anse Creuse pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Rochester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, L'Anse Creuse will venture away from home to face off against Marine City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rochester, they will host Stoney Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
