Trinity hasn't had much luck against Woodville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Woodville will be up against a hot Trinity team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Tigers claimed a resounding 45-8 win over Hemphill. Considering the Tigers have won three contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodville). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over Diboll. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Trinity better keep an eye on Luke Babin. He was instrumental in Woodville's win, rushing for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 210 yards and three TDs. Those 134 rushing yards gave Babin a new career-high. Woodville's leading receiver Tanner Ledoux was Babin's top target yet again, picking up 94 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Woodville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.
Woodville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Landon Harris, Saineko Mitchell, Corey McDaniel, and James Kelley picked up one apiece.
Trinity's record now sits at 4-0. As for Woodville, their record is now 3-1.
Trinity took a serious blow against Woodville in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 53-6. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Babin, who threw for 219 yards and three TDs on only 12 passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
