Soccer Game Preview: Marlin vs. Connally

The Marlin Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Connally Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Marlin lost 5-1 to Robinson on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 769th, while the Rockets are ranked 360th).

Meanwhile, Connally's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Hearne by a score of 1-0. The Cadets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Connally's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1. As for Marlin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which lines up perfectly with their 1-7-1 record this season.

Marlin took their victory against Connally in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marlin since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
