Preview: Dayton Pirates vs. Jefferson Lions
Dayton is 1-0 against Jefferson since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dayton Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson Lions at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dayton has seven straight victories, Jefferson has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Dayton didn't have too much trouble with Santiam Christian on the road as they won 22-7.
Dayton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Boston Hodges, who rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Zach Smith also helped out as he racked up 182 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Jefferson took a serious blow against Salem Academy on Thursday, falling 51-8.
Dayton's win lifted them to 7-0 while Jefferson's loss dropped them down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Dayton against Jefferson when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 44-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dayton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
