Baseball Recap: Lancaster Comes Up Short

Lancaster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mesquite Skeeters. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly four runs.

Derrick Chatman II made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 15 games he's played. Leo Leiva was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Lancaster's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Mesquite, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will square off against Waxahachie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mesquite, they will challenge West Mesquite at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wranglers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.84 runs per game on average), something the Skeeters will no doubt try to take advantage of.
