Boaz hadn't done well against Sardis recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pirates came out on top against the Lions by a score of 5-1. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Grier Maples made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Rhoden, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Boaz's record now sits at 24-7-1. As for Sardis, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boaz will welcome Pisgah at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sardis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
