Baseball Recap: Vinton County Falls to Athens in First Game of Season

Vinton County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 8-1 to the Athens Bulldogs on Wednesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 16 in a row.

Athens has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Vinton County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trimble at 5:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Athens, they will square off against Meigs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
