Softball Game Preview: Wisdom Pioneers vs. Central Aroostook Panthers

Wisdom is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Saturday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Central Aroostook Panthers at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Pioneers fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Washburn on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Central Aroostook hadn't done well against Ashland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Hornets 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Wisdom was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Aroostook in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
