Baseball Recap: Milan Gets the Win

While Milan's victory against Rising Sun wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians skirted past the Shiners 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since May 27, 2024.

Tommy Poole was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Poole was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Noah Morgan was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Milan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Rising Sun, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Milan will take on Oldenburg Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians are facing the Twisters at the right time seeing as the Twisters are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rising Sun, they will host Southwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shiners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
