 Elizabeth is 0-8 against Torres since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Monday. The Elizabeth Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Torres Toros at 1:15  p.m.
 Elizabeth is is headed into Monday's   contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game  on Thursday. They lost  11-4 to Maywood CES.
  Domonic Munoz put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   seven  hits (and only one walk). Munoz was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with a  stolen base, two  RBI,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  Carlos Esparza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  stolen  at least one in the last three games he's  played.
 Meanwhile, Torres scored the most  runs they've had all season to find success  on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Maywood Academy  a   20-0 shutout. The  victory was familiar territory for Torres who now have three in a row.
 Like Elizabeth, Torres also got a great game from a two-way player:  David DeLeon. On the mound,  DeLeon   pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Abraham Ramos   pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. At the plate,  DeLeon  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in five of his six plate appearances, while  Ramos  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Josue Solis Rojas was  incredible,  scoring four  runs and  stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. He is trending in the right direction, as he's  improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was  Robert Vargas, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
 Elizabeth's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Torres, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record  this season.
 Elizabeth might still be hurting after the  15-0 defeat they got from Torres  in their previous meeting  back in May of 2023. Can Elizabeth avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
