Kent Denver extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-12 in the process. They lost 17-7 to the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Thursday.
Levi Pollyea and Jack Wilson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pollyea went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Wilson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That double was Pollyea's first of the season.
As for Prospect Ridge Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
On Prospect Ridge Academy's side, Avery Stark made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. What's more, Stark posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Josiah Bote was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady McKenney, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Coming up, Kent Denver will head out to square off against Delta at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they will face off against Salida at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
