Softball Game Preview: Clovis Wildcats vs. Portales Rams

Clovis hasn't had much luck against Portales recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Clovis has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clovis is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Portales, falling 11-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Portales' part, Annaleah Lujan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Lujan a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Myleigh Banda was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Addyson Mayberry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Portales is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Clovis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
