South Lakes gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Yorktown Patriots 29-28. This was payback for the Seahawks, who suffered a 7-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading South Lakes to victory were Dalton Blakeney and Christian Wyatt. Blakeney rushed for 133 yards and a pair of scores, while Wyatt rushed for 54 yards and one TD. Those 133 rushing yards gave Blakeney a new career-high.

Although Yorktown took the loss, they still got scores from Samson Schneider, Alex Hans, Brady Owens, and Nate Randles.

Coming up, South Lakes will venture away from home to challenge Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Yorktown, they will host Jackson-Reed at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
