Football Recap: COOPER NULL Key Part of Team Effort in Bears Win

La Vernia won the last time they faced Navarro and things went their way on Friday too. The Bears took down the Panthers 23-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bears' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Panthers are ranked 554th).

La Vernia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but COOPER NULL led the charge by rushing for 75 yards and a pair of scores. NULL is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. La Vernia also got a significant boost from TY CARTER, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 97 yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for La Vernia, adding 11 points to the final score. All came from LANE GREEN: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 2-for-2 kicking extra points for an additional two.

The win made it two in a row for La Vernia and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 16 points in those games. As for Navarro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, La Vernia will be playing at home against Marble Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Navarro, they will venture away from home to square off against Wimberley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
