Softball Recap: Westview Find Success

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Westview nor Milan made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Chargers skirted past the Bulldogs 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

McCall Sims spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alexis Evans, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Mary (Maddie) Gray was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Westview's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Milan, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7.

Westview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
