Basketball Recap: Port Jefferson Royals vs. Babylon Panthers
The Port Jefferson Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 43-18 walloping at the hands of Babylon. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Port Jefferson of the 48-22 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Babylon found their leader in underclassman Melissa Mcgrane, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcgrane has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Giavanna Randazzo, who scored eight points.
Port Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Babylon, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
Port Jefferson will take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New York (Smithtown Christian is ranked 639th, while the Royals are ranked 654th). As for Babylon, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tuckers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Mattituck is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
