Baseball Game Preview: Highland Hawks vs. St. Christopher's Saints

The Highland Hawks will face off against the St. Christopher's Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Highland comes in on three and St. Christopher's on four.

Highland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Fredericksburg Christian with a sharp 17-2 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Grayson Coppage looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Joey Rogers was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Brooks Graham was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fredericksburg Christian only posted an OBP of .364.

St. Christopher's came out on top against Woodberry Forest on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Saints were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Tigers. That's two games straight that the Saints have won by exactly ten runs.

Highland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for St. Christopher's, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Highland was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Christopher's in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
