Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Dekaney's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Dekaney's tournament run continued when they took on Royal on Saturday. The Dekaney Wildcats walked away with a 49-42 win over the Royal Falcons.

When it comes to explaining why Royal lost, don't look at Zaelyn Shelton. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Mathews, who put up six points and seven rebounds.

Dekaney is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Royal, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Dekaney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-44 defeat against College Station on the 14th. As for Royal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-48 loss against Ray on the 14th.
