New Jersey guard maintains top spot but Kwame Evans Jr. and Mackenzie Mgbako are not far behind.

The challengers are starting to line up to and make compelling cases to be ranked No. 1, however Dajuan Wagner Jr. is still at the top of the junior class as 247Sports updates and expands our ranking of the class of 2023 to a top 150.


Below we break down why Wagner's a deserving No. 1 player and dive into the other contenders for the top spot. Additionally, we'll welcome eight players to the 5-star club and introduce some debuting players.

WAGNER FACING SERIOUS CHALLENGE AT THE TOP

Since we first ranked the class of 2023, Dajuan Wagner Jr. of Camden (NJ) High has had a firm grip on the No. 1 spot. That's pretty much been the case industry wide for the 6-foot-3 combo guard. Not only has he put up big numbers, but he has a pedigree and figures to be the third McDonald's All-American in his family after his grandfather and father both earned the honor in high school.
