Shiner and Burton squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Shiner had to settle for second. They fell 4-1 to the Panthers. The Comanches' loss signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.

Charlie Clifford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shiner saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Schuette, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Shiner's defeat dropped their record down to 24-6. As for Burton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season.

Burton will take on Overton on the 31st. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Shiner will be paying especially close attention to Burton's game: after Burton faces off against Flatonia, they'll take on Shiner again on Thursday.
