Football Recap: St. Marys Comes Up Short

After soaring to 32 points the game before, St. Marys was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They took a blow against the DuBois Beavers, falling 42-13. The Flying Dutch were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. Marys still got an impressive performance from Andrew Field, who rushed for 124 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Field's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 124 rushing yards.

St. Marys didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Gilmore and Landon Cook.

London Duncan produced another solid performance rushing for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries for DuBois. Those 171 rushing yards gave Duncan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Wingard, who threw for 146 yards and four TDs.

St. Marys now has a losing record of 2-3. As for DuBois, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Marys will take on Port Allegany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Flying Dutch's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for DuBois, they are taking a road trip to face off against Punxsutawney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Chucks have played have been within three points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
