It was a good run, but Newton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces by a score of 2-1. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Aces apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Newton sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-23, 17-25, 25-11.

Stella Schackmann paced Newton's offense, picking up 11 kills. Schackmann got some help from Amy Shull and her 17 assists.

Mt. Carmel was led to victory by Gabby Schneider and Tenley Davis. Schneider had 13 digs and 13 assists, while Davis had ten digs and two assists. Those 13 digs gave Schneider a new career-high.

Newton's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-11. As for Mt. Carmel, they pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Newton will square off against Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Carmel, they will face off against Paris at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Tigers have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
