Soccer Recap: Gardena Comes Up Short

Gardena lost against Banning back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gardena Panthers fell 3-1 to the Banning Pilots. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 960th, while the Pilots are ranked 361st).

Gardena's goal came courtesy of Joseph Valdez, which was the first he's scored this season.

Gardena is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10-2. As for Banning, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4-3 record this season.

Looking ahead, Gardena will face off against Carson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Carson will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Gardena surely won't give up without a fight. As for Banning, they will square off against San Pedro at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
