Baseball Recap: Colton Wins Going Away Against Western Christian

Colton hadn't done well against Western Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Pioneers. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Carson Weinberger was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Colton is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Weinberger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jamison Mcgill Mcgill was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Avery Schroeder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Colton's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Western Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Colton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pioneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
