Basketball Recap: Chase Mcewen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Floresville

The third road game was the charm for Vista Ridge, as they earned their first road win of the season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars 48-45. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Tigers/Jaguars are ranked 929th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vista Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Mcewen out in front who posted seven points. Mcewen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Cayden Sneed was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Floresville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryland Parker, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Rodriguez, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 20 points.

Vista Ridge's record is now 5-7. As for Floresville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Vista Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-37 victory against Bishop on the 12th. As for Floresville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-44 loss against Flour Bluff on the 12th.
