Basketball Recap: Leesville Road Pride vs. Wakefield Wolverines
If Leesville Road was riding high fresh off their 62-39 takedown of Apex last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leesville Road Pride were dealt a 76-47 loss at the hands of the Wakefield Wolverines on Tuesday. The Pride were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Pride players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Molly Zuburg, who posted 12 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chloe Fulk, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 16 points.
Jaya Hamilton was nothing short of spectacular for Wakefield: she put up 25 points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Amend, who had 12 points and five rebounds.
Leesville Road's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2. As for Wakefield, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Leesville Road didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-30 win against East Chapel Hill on the 11th. As for Wakefield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-41 defeat against Seaforth on the 14th.
