Softball Recap: Strasburg Wins Going Away Against Stonewall Jackson

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Moorefield, Strasburg was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Stonewall Jackson Generals. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their one-run performance the game before.

Ava Mayhew was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Wilkins was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Cunningham, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Strasburg now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Stonewall Jackson, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Strasburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Rappahannock County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stonewall Jackson will challenge rival Luray at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
