Football Recap: Niwot Comes Up Short on the Road Against Thomas Jefferson

Niwot had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 36-35 to the Thomas Jefferson Spartans. The Cougars were up 28-14 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Niwot's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Volf, who threw for 248 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes. The Cougars' leading receiver Eli Quesada was Volf's top target yet again, picking up 88 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Niwot has already played their next game, a 56-42 loss against Centaurus on the 4th. As for Thomas Jefferson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Mountain Range on the 5th.
