Softball Recap: Dickinson Takes a Loss

Dickinson lost against Clear Creek on March 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Dickinson took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clear Creek. Gators fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Saturday.

Vaness Rodriguez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Barajaz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Dickinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February.

Dickinson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 6-18 record this season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.45 in the others. Clear Creek is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Dickinson will venture away from home to challenge Clear Brook at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dickinson is facing Clear Brook at the right time seeing as Clear Brook is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Clear Creek, they will host Deer Park at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clear Creek 3.9, Deer Park 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
