Volleyball Recap: Rudder Takes a Loss

Rudder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Huntsville Hornets. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-16.

Addison Benavidez paced Rudder's offense, picking up 19 kills. Benavidez got some help from Ja'Liyah McClenton and her 22 assists. Maddie Willis controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Rudder's defeat dropped their record down to 13-19. As for Huntsville, the victory got them back to even at 17-17.

Rudder and Huntsville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Rangers will face off against A&M Consolidated at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (705 vs. 42). Meanwhile, Huntsville (ranked 404th) will meet Lake Creek (ranked 171st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
