Softball Recap: Hibbing Gets the Win

Hibbing's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Marshall Hilltoppers. The Bluejackets haven't had any issues with the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Emma McDowell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendal Gustavsson, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Kori McCormick was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hibbing's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Marshall, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hibbing will square off against Cloquet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marshall, they will head out to take on Cherry at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
