Softball Game Preview: Warsaw Tigers vs. Avon Braves

Warsaw is 2-8 against Avon since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Braves at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Warsaw is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since March 27, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Letchworth 12-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Avon got themselves on the board against Le Roy on Wednesday, but Le Roy never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Oatkan Knights 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Oatkan Knights: they've now won eight in a row.

Not much got past Jessie Crye, who gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Le Roy off the board. Crye has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Warsaw's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Warsaw came up short against Avon in their previous matchup back in April, falling 7-3. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
