Baseball Recap: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Brandeis Broncos
SA Roosevelt had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-21-1 to make it seven. They lost 12-1 to the Brandeis Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Wednesday.
As for Brandeis, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
For Brandeis' part, Tj Byrd looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Byrd has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Nate McCarty was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Ramos, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
