The Lincoln County Panthers will face off against the Winfield Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln County has three straight wins, Winfield has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The team relied heavily on Hunter Chaffin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Greysen Ellis was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Winfield faced Charleston Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Generals came up short against the Irish, falling 9-2. The game marked the Generals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Winfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Wallace, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Lincoln County pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Winfield, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Winfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. It's a different story for Winfield, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Lincoln County's hitters?
