Football Recap: Serra's Rushing Attack Does It Again

Serra had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Palos Verdes Sea Kings with a sharp 26-0 win.

The critical scores for Serra came from Devohn Moutra Jr and Anthony Pignatello.

Serra was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

One reason for the win was Serra's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 5.5 sacks. In that department, Khary Wilder was the leader with three. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Serra received some extra help from Pignatello, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Looking ahead, Serra is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palos Verdes, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against 'Aiea at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
