The Smyrna Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Stewarts Creek Red Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Smyrna's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cookeville with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won five in a row.
Adaeze Nwogbo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Kylah Lowe was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Talia Paredes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Smyrna hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Stewarts Creek waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cavaliers.
Like Smyrna, Stewarts Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Jadyn Brawley. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Brawley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samya Sandifer, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Stembridge, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Stewarts Creek's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Smyrna, their record is now 14-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Smyrna has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Stewarts Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Smyrna might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Stewarts Creek in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
