Recap: Wilmington Wildcats vs. Coal City Coalers
The Wilmington Wildcats lost against the Coal City Coalers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Wilmington took a serious blow against Coal City, falling 53-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wilmington in their matchups with Coal City: they've now lost eight in a row.
Clara Smith and Alaina Clark certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Clark scored 0 points along with 4 steals. Clark has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Wilmington has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Coal City, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Wilmington will take on Grace Christian Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Grace Christian Academy is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Coal City, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Prairie Central at 7:00 p.m. Prairie Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 588th, while Coal City is ranked 92nd).
