Baseball Game Preview: Greenville Hornets vs. Gentry Rams

Greenville has gone a perfect 7-0 against Gentry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Greenville Hornets will face off against the Gentry Rams at 4:00 p.m. Greenville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Greenville beat Canton 14-11. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

The team relied heavily on Laderrius Hunter, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Greenville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Deatrin Cooper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Gentry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Greenville, falling 17-5. One positive for the Rams, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Gentry, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Greenville's way against Gentry in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Greenville made off with a 17-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
