Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge Bobcats vs. Martins Ferry Purple Riders

The Cambridge Bobcats will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Martins Ferry Purple Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cambridge is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since January 24th on Saturday. They came up short against John Glenn, falling 76-53. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Little Muskies recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Martins Ferry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to Indian Valley on the road by a 75-56 margin. While losing is never fun, the Purple Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Braves are ranked 21st).

Martins Ferry's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cambridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Cambridge suffered a grim 73-48 defeat to Martins Ferry in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Cambridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
