Preview: Oak Grove Lutheran Grovers vs. Hillsboro/Central Valley H-CV Burros
The Oak Grove Lutheran Grovers will head out on the road to face off against the Hillsboro/Central Valley H-CV Burros at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Oak Grove Lutheran and four for Hillsboro/Central Valley.
Oak Grove Lutheran suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 69-46 defeat at the hands of Wahpeton. While losing is never fun, Oak Grove Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Wahpeton is ranked tenth).
Meanwhile, Hillsboro/Central Valley's 16-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 81-71 to Thompson on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (58), Hillsboro/Central Valley still had to take the loss.
Oak Grove Lutheran bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hillsboro/Central Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-6.
Oak Grove Lutheran barely slipped by Hillsboro/Central Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 72-71. Will Oak Grove Lutheran repeat their success, or does Hillsboro/Central Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
