Basketball Game Preview: Ridge Red Devil vs. Montgomery Cougars

The Ridge Red Devil will head out on the road to face off against the Montgomery Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Ridge saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-49 win over Immaculata. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devil in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Montgomery entered their tilt with The Pingry School on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Big Blue by a score of 67-58. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Big Blue are ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montgomery pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.

Ridge couldn't quite finish off Montgomery in their previous matchup back in January and fell 55-52. Can Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
